Adventure Bay Motoryachts

What can we offer?
Adventure Bay Motoryachts was formed with a clear goal. To offer high quality, attractively priced semi-custom 30-80ft motor-yachts. This includes mono-hulls and Powercats.

To do so we sought out experienced flexible production facilities and arrived finally where the world is going for labour intensive hand crafted manufacturing- the superpower of China. This manufacturing is managed by experienced marine professionals from Taiwan and New Zealand and Australia. Payment security for the customers ordering offshore is in fact very high. Progress Payments can be safer building offshore as LC and Trust Deposit vehicles are employed to ensure the customers funds are totally secure during the construction period.
We select the best New Zealand/Australian designers and surveyors to oversee production and 2 very experienced yards in Shanghai China to build for us.

  1. Activa Marine, owned and operated by Taiwanese Naval Architect Charles Chang, veteran of over 500 boats built in his Taiwanese and Chinese factories over the past 30 years.
  2. Five Star Marine owned by 2 Norwegian shipping magnates and set-up by Ex-Pat Kiwi Simon Pickering.

Today the range encompasses over 25 female moulded models across 4 ranges:

33-50ft Picnic style retro classic cruisers under Five Star and Activa brands.
46-80ft Raised Pilothouse family cruisers from Activa.
42-68ft Trawler style coastal and offshore Passagemakers under Activa and Tradition brands.
Powercats- 29-55ft under the Adventure Bay Powercats brand.

Where did we come from?
We have been keen boaters since the early 1970's and have spent many thousands of blue-water miles around the Pacific in charter with the vessels since the mid 80’s.

Our parent company Winter's Investments Ltd was established in 1962 as a Scandinavian Furniture Manufacturer (Danske Mobler) and has been involved in boat-building, refits and corporate luxury charter operations since the early 1980's.

The 105 ft luxury Feadship style monohull Pacific Mermaid was conceived and built from 1990-1995 in the days we had our own factory called Winter Yachts in East Tamaki. It began Chartering in 1996 and is still in Winters' Investments ownership today based in Europe. Pacific Mermaid was New Zealand's largest Superyacht for hire and was regularly used by visiting celebrities, Royalty and foreign and local heads of government.

Furniture making and importing is the background of the company since 1958 and These projects have given invaluable experience and feedback on the business of entertaining afloat and blue water cruising. Since 1996 marine projects have been on a sub contract basis to specialists with Winter Yachts (now Adventure Bay) project managing them hands on.

The 42-foot charter catamaran Aqua Vitae was the company's entry into multihull construction and many catamaran concepts have been researched and tested since then.

86ft Powercat Pacific Harmony was the next major project that successfully chartered around the Hauraki Gulf during the 2003 America’s cup campaign before being motored to Florida and on-sold in 2005.
